Here is what you need to know about how to beat the Hydra in OSRS
Trying to find ways of beating the Hydra in OSRS? Here is what you need to know.
If you have been looking for alternative ways to earn OSRS gold, then taking on bosses is always an effective method. So, if you want to find a different way before finding OSRS GP for slae, then consider taking on the Alchemical Hydra.
What is the Alchemical Hydra?
The Alchemical Hydra, or often known just as the Hydra, is a boss that can be found in Mount Karuulm within the lower level of the Karuulm Slayer Dungeon. You will need to be at level 95 Slayer in order to kill this boss.
This boss was made by the Dragonkin which are known by the name Karuulm. It was considered a failure by Karuulm since he wasn’t able to copy its traits, and was discarded with Hydras, Drakes and Wyrms.
To kill the Hydra, you must be on the Hydra Slayer task, which can only be assigned by Konar. You will need to be wearing either granite boots, boots of stone, or boots of brimstone in order to enter the location unless you have finished the elite Kourend & Kebos Diary. It offers some rather profitable drops, so that you won’t need to purchase OSRS gold. The Hydra claw especially is an effective item, since it can be used to make the Dragon Hunter lance.
Finding the Boss
If you want to find the Hydra, then you will need to run past the Tasakaal, then go past the Hydras to the east. Then, go to the entrance of the lair near Orrvor quo Maten, or you can check out the pipe behind Kaal-Ket-Jor if you have level 88 Agility.
Fight Tactics
The Hydra has four phases in the battle, and it will change each phase depending on its health. The attacks that the Hydra has involves rotating ranged and magic, which will occur during the first three phases of the fight. Once you have started the fight, you will find that it has a reduction of 25% health to get to each new phase of the battle.
The tactic is to lure the Hydra over a vent that omits chemical liquid. You will need to make sure that you are going over the right combat triangle, so for example if it is green, you will need to get it over the red and so on.
After 25% health has been lost, a head will be taken away and the phase will change. Since it brings back the damage reduction, you will want to lure it over the vent again for each time. The special attacks it possesses meanwhile include poison pools when they are green and black, fire when it is red and electricity when they are blue. The best thing to do in these phases is to keep your distance and attack from range, because even though they can be avoided rather easily when you are focused, if you do get caught by these attacks they can have devastating results.
The best tactic that you can use is to get yourself a Twisted Bow. If you are unable to get your hands on one, then consider using the Toxic Blowpipe instead. Either one of these weapons will be very effective for the fight, so the main point that you will want to focus on is that you are using a ranged. Given the nature of the Hydra’s attacks, you would be far better equipped if you were to take an approach in which you were attacking from a distance.
Drops to Look Out for
As well as the obvious Hydra’s Claw, you will also want to take a look at getting other drops such as the Hydra’s Eye, Hydra’s Heart and the Hydra’s Fang. These non-tradeable unique items can be combined together, which will make the best in slot item known as the Brimstone Ring. With that in mind, this fight is more than worth your time taking on.
That is pretty much everything you need to know about beating the Hydra. If you do want to avoid having to buy OSRS gold, then this is a great way to do so. There are a few bosses in fact that you can check out when playing OSRS if you want to pick up that precious OSRS gold. Just make sure that you go in well-equipped so that you can get the most out of kills per hour and ultimately the amount of gold that you will earn. As for the Hydra, keep your distance, focus on the vents and it will be downed in no time.
